The Sith Lord and her Apprentice
It turns out that I rigged the Sith/Jedi thing. Muah-ha-ha-ha. I figured that the party was my idea and that Ben and I were the only ones that really were pulling for it, that forcing your friends to watch 13 hours of Star Wars was evidence enough to prove we are evil enough to be Sith lords.
oh the Geekyness that is me and Ben.
oh the Geekyness that is me and Ben.
the dark lord herself
I made this costume myself out of fabric I got at various garage sales. The funny thing is that it is the exact size for my 11year old neighbor Jack.
Its 10am are you crazy?
We started the 2005/2006 New Years Eve Star Wars Spectacular at 10am. I distributed little SW canisters that contained SW watches for each swarsie here. They also contained a program with watching rules. We all were given a slip of paper that divided us into Sith and Jedi (there were only 2 sith [there are always only 2 sith]) to be deciphered at the end of the marathon.
For Episode II I handed out rolls for us to play out while watching. correct guesses were rewarded with Dark [side] chocolate.

Episode III revenge of the cheesecake
For Episode III, I distributed the lightsabers (glowsticks), and Kari broke out her award worthy homemade Cheesecake! woot!
sometime in the second half
This one captures the affect 4 episodes of Star Wars can have on a group. Its some heavy stuff, look how low we are.

Woot! Episode III!
Yup, I baught Episode III for myself for Christmas, eventhough I don't really have money to burn right now. I am so excited for New Year's eve this year. A couple of buddies and I are getting together and marathoning episodes IV, V, VI, I, II, III. We figure we should do it cronologicly to how they were made because III is so climactic. Does anyone have any ideas for fun things to do while watching them? I have heard of a few Star Wars Marathon drinking games but my friends and I don't really drink.

Qui-Gon-Jin on the bookshelf
this is but a snapshot of the Star Wars Alter. I like how Qui-Gon looks like he is swinging down off the bookshelf.

I love this one taken by Mr.Wright at SW3
Mr.Wright says, "Taken before Episode III, during a trailer for a movie that I will likely view — I never watch a trailer for any movie I have any intention of seeing. They're like eating all of the chocolate chips before you buy the cookie.
Used as a tripod here: the lid to one humongo-jumbo soda in the drink holder."

I just love looking at peoples' reactions in movie theatres. It so reminds me of something I or Amelie would do.

Day 15
Another Thursday morning of homework, and class; work all afternoon, hacking on breaks, then home for Survivor and CSI. I unveiled my room for mom, playing the second half of II to show her the sound system hooked to the G4.
I constructed Speeder Bikes out of Legos.

Day 16
Slept in, watched Regis and Kelly and a movie, made spaghetti and red pasta sauce with cheese (very good!), worked a little on homework, and went to choir. Mom brought home groceries from wall-mart and a little surprise for me: a 2006 STAR WARS calendar (the one with the SW movie posters.) *So Excited* I took down a poster of Orlando and put the calendar up open to the one that says “size matters not”, and from there decided to purge my room entirely clean, organizing too, and made a STAR WARS alter under the new calendar. Cleaning was accompanied by watching II while I worked.

Day 17
It was an early morning again. “Slacker I am, Yes.” Finishing up my assignment right up until the moment it is due. I had a guy call me about this survey I had agreed to do today. They sent me a tape of a demo show with commercials. I thought they were going to ask me about the promo show but no, it was more like an hour and a half talking about Bush’s Baked Beans and Puffs tissue commercials. It was a riot. I got a real kick out of it. The minute I hung up, Ben called, asking me if I wanted to go to dinner at Vall’s with Andreas and his mom. I said I couldn’t, busy. Then I went to get my hair cut. I love it so much! It is so cute! It was getting too long. I can’t pull it back now but that’s ok. It is cute! And it makes my shadow look like I have the Darth Vader helmet on. : ) I went to the library and got Fiery Cross, Cold Mountain, and Wild boy (a story of Rowan Hood). On the way home I saw Terry Werner standing next to a sign with his name on it. He waved at me. I was driving past the church on Mohawk, and decided to vote, contrary to what I had said to Ben earlier about not voting. Inside I met Sharon Nore, after hearing so much about her for so many years. It was great. I told her about how everyone asks me if I am related to her, and she told me how everyone asks her if she is related to my mom. lol. I went home and watched American Idol with mom, Voted for my favorite, Bo, and got a real hankerin’ for some hackin’! It took me a while to get a hold of my hack buddies, considering they were moping around about Terry Werner’s loss. I invited myself over, bringing the tape of Regis and Kelly I had taped for my self this morning because Hayden was on. I still can’t believe Regis said he was fighting “Obi-Wan-Your-Kenobi” in the clip, and that he thought that III was the one that starts the story over.
We got in my car and went to the park to hack. I brought my binoks and star chart so we could look at the stars if we got tired of hack. We did both before going home not too late.

Day 18
Hayden Christensen was on Good Morning America this morning. He said he remembers imitating Darth Vader before he remembers ever watching the movies. They showed a clip of him and Palpaatine at the space opera discussing the "perks" of the dark side. Hayden had brought some light sabers, and gave a demonstration with the choreographer from the movie. I watched the Perfect Score while I worked on my blog and checked my email. I talked to Andreas and Ben. While I had been on the Internet today I stumbled upon a site that goes deep into STAR WARS. I then realized how low a level of fan I am, a padawan fan as it were. I am obsessed, but there are far more levels of obsessed above me. My knowledge of the force only reaches so far. Its based solely on watching the main movies many times, and reading a few assorted articles and documentaries. I've not read any other fan fiction other than STAR WARS II: Attack of the Clones. I know a lot, but it is squat next to what is out there.
I had A&P review today at 6:30. Mom and I text each other while I am there. Stuff like: weather or not the skank on the Bachelor will go home, or if there is anything good on Antiques road show. I had text her about how low level fan I am, and she text me back that she brought home a STARWARS coloring book to color and study. lol. She is so cool about this, considering she doesn't like action movies at all! She is not into STAR WARS one bit. I since that she gets how big of a deal this is to me, though. Thanx mom.

I got an email
Well it seems these blogs don't go unnoticed. I got an email from Steve Silberman the author of the Wired article I mentioned in day 22. I would like to formally apologize for blatantly generalizing the content in his and the other articles. I didn't realize the impact of my words when I blogged them. I also went back to read the article again and found there was a lot more info that I hadn’t processed. It must be hard to write a new and original article after so many others have covered the topic before. Thanks to Steve for opening my eyes to that.

Day 19
This morning mom and I got up and had brunch with Lynne and Amy at wilderness Ridge. We had to battle our way across the marathon to get there, but it was worth it. The food was so delicious!
Crème cheese crepe, eggs, sausage, fruit, apple crumble, crème Brule, dark chocolate tort, apple crêpes, and breakfast taters (and that's just what I had. We delivered a few May Day baskets, and went home. I put on A New Hope in my room, and fell asleep in my chair. When I got up, mom and I watched Sunday shows and the DVD I got from Bruce: As Foretold (a film that Bruce and his cousins started in 2003).

Day 20
A hard days night lead to a hard days work.
4 clients lined up, 2 show.
Went to Bruce's house right after to hang out with him and Quinn. We played STARWARS: Clone Wars on Game Cube. So Much Fun! It took a while to get the hang of the game but I gradually got more and more time between dying.
We made popcorn and I suggested we watch Spiderman 2 to show them my cameo. I am in the scene right after Spiderman saves the train and the people pull him into the car. Doc Ock shows up and people stand up for Spiderman. I am a "me too" right before he goes through us to get to Spiderman. I just about had them fooled. I love messing with people about that. The girl could be my twin though.
Around 9:30pm, it was time for Quinn to go to bed, so I figured I should leave. Andreas had called me, so I met him and Ben at Hyde observatory at Holms Lake to look at the stars.
I love going there. It reminds me of my childhood, going there with mom and Myer, looking through the telescopes and watching Astronomy films, listening to astronomers' discussions. I was so fascinated. The boys were being dumb tonight though. They were bored after 5 min, claiming, "it doesn't change! You look in the telescopes, you see Saturn, Jupiter, and a globular cluster, and there's nothing else." no matter what I said, He wouldn't give it up. It totally irked the experience. I can't believe anyone could be anything but Excited about seeing a 200,000 year old view of a globular cluster through a telescope. They were more excited cruzin' (uzin' my gas) and going to the North Wal-Mart. I like the south Wal-Mart better, its less creepy. I bought mom a mother's day present: Lauren Hill: The Miss education of Lauren Hill. We went back to Andreas' to drop him off and I had to take Ben home. It was about 1:20am when I got home.

Day 21
It is interesting that they say, "USE the force" because it isn’t really manipulating, using, or willing it to do something. In my understanding (or my opinion, how ever you want to look at it), it is more a part of nature, the world, life, an embodiment of consciousness, so to speak, and it reacts to human emotions and thought because it is a part of it. I believe the force either was the thing that gave the first human the idea to use tools or it sprang out of the first conscious movement/thought. (Kind of a chicken or the egg thing.) The force kept growing the more our range of consciousness grew. There once was one large force, but as time went on and people stopped being in harmony with the earth, the force split in two. One side still clinging to the harmony of peace with the earth, the other growing rapidly from self-gain and power, forsaking the good of all for the advancement of self. You gain more and more harmony with it as your Knowledge of it grows!
I spent the most of the day at Everett again. After 3 I went over to Andreas' house, where I found Andreas, Ben, and Erica in the driveway, playing hack. We all played hack for a long time. After a while of Hacking, fighting, learning, and burning, we got in my car and went to 2 Russ's stores looking for Episode I and went back to watch it and eat pizza in an atmosphere of control where slices were dictated. Protocol is the key, and eye-rolling a must. After all we did not watch the second movie we rented; we opted instead to escape from the social control of the matriarch, and retreat to the park for much admittance and soul searching on the part of the trio. We went to Barns and Nobles to drool over STAR WARS books and magazines. A new copy of GQ w/ Hayden Christensen and a Chai-tea-latae-frapachino in arm, we cruised and cruised, toured Lincoln, to retire to Andreas' at around 12:30am, but no one left the car till 4:00am (telling stories in a safe environment. It doesn't happen often.

Day 22
Today is a Thursday. It was an early morning to finish that speech outline that I didn't write last night while watching II with commentary. It was so interesting! It was the first time I had seen it with the commentary. I had hooked it up in my room again (half because it sounds awesome and half to make it look like I was working on homework) ; )
I had no Idea that all the clone troopers were computer generated. They didn’t make one single Clone Trooper costume in real life. They totally had me fooled. And I had never noticed the cameos before. They are so subtle. I saw so much that I haven’t seen before. It was cool to find out where a lot of the sound affects came from.
I was reading this article in Wired about George Lucas and his STAR WARS legacy (and all this stuff he sparked in to happening) this morning. I kept thinking, I've heard this before. I had heard this before. A lot of it sounded like it had come right out of the documentary. I guess it is understandable once you read 5 articles and watch a documantary on one man's life there's not much you don't know about them or at least their career.
After work, I came home and found out that survivor had been pushed back an hour so the president could yak for a while. I decided to take the movies back and get episode I because I haven’t seen it in almost 5 years, but pretty much all of the star wars DVDs where checked out. That’s not even the Half of it. I got all the way there, looked at the passenger seat and the movies weren't there. I had forgotten them next to the door at home. I went home and got them and went back, finally settling on Perfect Score and Electra. I watched Electra after Survivor. Its the kind of movie, whose plot is kinda thin and drawn out, made to look kinda creepy and put in tons of fighting and special effects. When it ended, I said to my self, "well, its no STAR WARS."

Day 23
Today I went to Everett to have lunch and hang out in mom's classroom. We had shred soup, courtesy of Alyssa Mayer. I got into a great conversation with Quinn about STAR WARS. He wants me to come over and play Clone Wars on his game cube Saturday.
When I got home I watched the rest of the documentary while I made shells and cheese for dinner. I went to Choir at 5:30 and home an hour later to do a paper for class tomorrow, but I ended up watching Episode II with commentary late and did my paper in the morning, oh well.
Bruce called me back and was so excited about going to STAR WARS III on the 20th. He is an even bigger STAR WARS nerd than I am. He has read so much fan fiction! I've only read Episode II Clone Wars that came out around the time the movie did. We had this discussion about Boba Fett. He said he would provide the food because I am providing the tickets, which is fair. We talked about going in costume. I said I am going in my Yoda shirt and my cloak. He said he had been looking on the Internet for a moderately priced Storm Trooper suit. In my opinion, I think it will be uncomfortably to sit 2 and a half hours in a plastic suit. That’s just me, I guess. But you never know, it may not matter if you are excited enough.

Day 24
I had the urge to purge my room last night, so I hooked up the G4 to my sound system and watched STAR WARS A New Hope while I cleaned my room. It sounded awesome on the system. I was digging in my closet and all of a sudden Obi-wan said something over my shoulder, and for a split second I thought he was there in my room. Weird bur cool!
Went to Red Robin for lunch and read STAR WARS articles in magazines. My waiter's mane is Jed, he was a nice helper. They had hired a new drink mixer so they were giving away adult beverages to try. Jed came by and was about to tell me about this drink when he caught himself and said, "You're 21 right?" It was the biggest compliment. : )
When I got home, I watched the Documentary on George Lucas/STAR WARS that is on the extras DVD from the trilogy.

Day 25
Early am
I bought 2 tickets on April 23rd for the May 20th 7:00pm showing of STAR WARS III. Opening week tickets, this is going to be a great audience! Who holds the other ticket, is a mystery so far. I was thinking about my friend Andreas, but he gave, by far, the blandest response to the news. I really thought he was a STAR WARS fan. Taking someone from school is out. The majority hasn’t even seen the first trilogy (IV, V, VI), and even less know there was even a new one coming out. My Best friend Hannah was never really into STAR WARS, she just liked episode II because of Hayden Christensen, but I see her point. Then I thought of (or I should say "mom thought of") Elizabeth or Bruce. They are on the list for sure. I gave Bruce a TXT MSG about it but haven't heard back yet. We will see. I went to Best Buy today (5-24-05) and bought a copy of STARWARS episode II on DVD for my collection, and watched it. One of my favorite extras is a featurette with Natalie Portman exclaiming how "young Anakin has grown up into this very hansom Hayden Christensen". I just about split a gut.
After sleep
I am just beginning to realize the enormity that is the plot in STAR WARS. It astounds me how one man, a politician no less, was able to take over through manipulation, and I'm not talking about Darth Vader. Poor Anakin was just caught in the middle, being powerful to begin with then skillfully turned to follow the one man that had brought about the death and suffering of every one he loved.
After a morning of Eastern Medicine
The force is a lot like Chi, healing energy; it is like Yin and Yang, Light and Dark. "Feel the force moving through you.” The "Dark" side is in more of a sense or evil, Active oriented, Fire driven, and Power hungry and not so much the "darkness" associated with night. The dirk side is Yang and the good side is yin. You must have balance. You could not have one with out the other and you can't have something purely one side or the other. There are flaws in the Jedi’s Ideals in that aspect.
The rule about love: They strive for unconditional love, which in turn balances the hate in the world, but you are not allowed to fall in love. Why? You would think it is essential, especially because the # of Jedi are steadily decreasing even more so because of oncoming war. I guess it is the other en of the scale that worries them. There would have to be an equal and opposite push on the other side of the force, something bad, such as: Love is making life, the equal and opposite push would be Death in order to balance out the equation. Like in the Matrix: Balancing out the equation by adding an equal and opposite force that is smith because of the phenomenon that is Neo OR is it that Neo is there to balance out the Smith in the equation? I wonder if Anakin has an equal and opposite force out there and who are they? Maybe he himself is his other half, both sides inside himself. Anakin vs. Darth Vader. It's not as clear or clean-cut lines of good/evil equal and opposite forces in star wars but it is more or less expressed in the 2 different sides of the force.
